The guy just said what everyone else was thinking. Dangerous trait for an anchor, though. They are not supposed to think--they are supposed to read.

They revisited this a few nights ago because of all the hype about it and showed the leno bit. One of the reporters asked him if he regretted what he said. He said no, that the comment was appropriate at the time.....or something like that.
