R.I.P. Uncle Teddy

I suppose the best thing you could ever say about Ted Kennedy was that he was a privileged man born into American royalty who cared passionately about the well-being of those less fortunate than him. It's doubtful that the term "Christian" will ever be synonymous with his name, but the man embodied Christian principals much more so than many of the people in this country who love to call themselves Christians.

My own personal favorite Ted Kennedy story...Years ago, during his infamous swinging single days, a picture emerged in one of the tabloids of Ted and a young beauty frolicking on a boat together. Someone, I think it was a reporter of some sort, showed the picture to Senator Ernest "Fritz" Hollings, a longtime Democratic colleague of Kennedy's in the Senate, who responded to it by saying, "Well, it looks as though the Senator from Massachusetts has changed his position on offshore drilling!"

And yeah, his legacy will be forever scarred by his well-documented fuckups and bouts with human frailty, but the man did have the good sense to marry a Cajun girl from Crowley to stand by his side during his golden years, and he certainly deserves a lot of credit for that.

Will admit to a few misty moments while listening to hours of NPR coverage. It's too bad, really, that a handful of callers to various programs choose to only peck at the carcas of the chappaquidick story. Teddy has admitted his failings, and has more than redeemed himself to humanity by having championed causes deemed too volatile by lesser elected officials. His "nothing to lose" spirit has produced a share of positiv results that stand up against the tide of opposition and do-nothingness that pervades congress these days. His spirit and service, I'm afraid, will continue unmatched by subsequent "public servants". RIP, Uncle Teddy!

Ted Kennedy is the World's most significant Giant Douche. Ted Kennedy is the brother in every large wealthy white American family who doesn't quite make it in life, he never really measured up. His feigned compassion was sold hard, and bought by so many (obviously), hot air welling up from a sloppy vessel covered with the necessary preppy outfits for the photo ops, and piped through throat and mouth with just the proper tinges here and there of a coastal Mass accent. Typical how the little boys in the photo op today were dressed in khaki short trousers and blue blazars. Are you fucking kidding me? This isn't a family beach photo it's a fucking funerary procession. That amount of decency and respect made me wonder...do I have more respect for Ted Kennedy, simply as a man, than members of his family? Perhaps, because it's still, for them very much about the photo op and the Act. Dumb liberal Americans still eat that shit up though like it's a commodity short on supply and heavy on demand. And, maybe that is the case. Let's hope this marks the end of all the Camelot bullshit. For goodness sakes, I had enough of it a long long time ago. Two brothers named John and Robert were born to a bootlegger who also controlled America's money supply. And, they were fairly interesting historic political figures, who were both more interestingly, assassinated. They had a little brother tugging on their coat tails, named Teddy. Teddy for his part grew like a weed on top of his brothers graves, and the weed after persisting for many years finally died, like all weeds should.

Goodbye to a liberal in every sense of the word as it's understood today.

Immoderate personally, immoderate politically. Unbound by principle, he allowed himself to be ruled by his appetites -- drinking, carousing, and manslaughtering.

Similarly, he was led by the appetites of the masses -- soak the rich with taxes and give away the largess to the undisciplined and unmotivated who drag us down. Just as long as no one passed a yacht tax or obstructed the view from the compound, the rich were fair game.

RIP

barry o....fuck you...seriously

what the kennedy clan has shown is that people can rise above the sins of their father

the kennedys have worked tirelessly for the causes of the less fortunate, and unlike the bush's who strive to be like their nazi forebearer, prescott (may he burn in hell for all eternity) they have stamped out the memory of joe (who was as much a nazi lover as prescott bush)

still dont understand what the big deal is about joe making his money in bootlegging...how do you think mrs mccain's daddy made his fortune?

i will gladly put teddy's lifetime deeds up to yours

i know he got lots more poon than you will ever see...which is probably why you are still jealous of a dead man

One correction, however--Ms. Victoria Reggie Kennedy of Crowley, LA is entirely of Lebanese, not French, descent.
