On the ridiculous levels of stupidity inherent in the right wing's "President Teleprompter" attacks on Obama

One of the things that I've noticed over the past few weeks is the concerted effort by the mouthpieces for the right wing to carve a "narrative" or a "meme" out of Obama's use of a teleprompter. If you listen to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin or if you read Drudge, you've undoubtably noticed this. I'm beginning to think that they all convene regularly in Dick Cheney's basement to hatch dumbass plans to fool voters into thinking that their party in its present form is actually a viable option for American leadership, something that any human being with the capacity for abstract thought knows is patently false. Drudge was at it again Tuesday night when he posted a photo of a television in the back of the press room that Obama used to read his opening statement before his press conference the other night...

Now, first of all, I find all of this laughably amusing. I mean, is this really the best that they've got? Who came up with this complete abortion of an attack plan? Is there something in "The Art of War" that advocates attacking your opponent's strength or something? Is that what they're trying to do here? Because I have thought about this a lot and I can't seem to make sense of it. At all.

Do these morons really think that by beating the "he's reading the words that other people are telling him to say" drum over and over and over again that this will actually stick with the American public? What kind of fools do they take us for? Do they really think that because he reads his prepared speeches off of a teleprompter, just as every other leading American political figure of this generation has done, that they're going to trick the public into thinking that Obama is some sort of robot, some sort of empty suit who can't think for himself when left to his own devices and is programmed daily by Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Osama Bin Laden and Satan himself? I heard Limbaugh the other day spouting off saying that the reason Obama had his special Olympics gaffe with Leno was because he didn't have a teleprompter to read off of. And he was serious! Really? Give me a fucking break!

HAVE THESE IDIOTS COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN WHO THE PRESIDENT WAS FOR THE LAST EIGHT YEARS? DO THEY NOT REMEMBER THE BARELY LITERATE FUCKING RETARD THEY WANTED TO BE VICE-PRESIDENT IN THE LAST ELECTION?

Republicans inferring that Obama is a robot who relies a teleprompter to speak to the nation in complete sentences is kind of like a kid riddled with horrendous acne who calls out the kid in his class with the clearest skin for having a pizza face. It just doesn't make any fucking sense at all. You're going to attempt to mock and ridicule the most eloquent world leader of this generation for his alleged inability to communicate without a teleprompter when the last leader of the party could barely speak in complete sentences EVEN WHEN HE USED ONE?!?!

What a bunch of dipshits. They're truly more fucked than I ever though they were if this is the best that they can do. They're completely devoid of original ideas and offer nothing to the American public except silly schemes designed to hamper the opposition party's approval ratings, and they're EMBARRASSINGLY TERRIBLE at even that.

In case anyone needs reminding of the previous president's communication skills, here's David Letterman's "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches" greatest hits...

The modern Republican party continues to prove itself a fucking joke, and an awfully lame one at that.

Cajun Boy, isn't there even a tiny little piece of your heart that's still in love with the Republican Party? Surely all that time you spent together still means something to you - aren't there some good times that you can look back on fondly?

FYI...I don't think it's all about the fact that he uses a telopromter. It has more to do with how different he sounds when he is not using one. His speech patterns change dramatically. I listen to a lot of radio, all different sides, and I haven't heard them insinuate that he is like a 'robot' but instead he relies on the thing a lot more than most public figures. My two cents.

What truly truly frightens me is that there are people out there who actually believe and agree. I work with someone who invited me to "follow" he and his wife on Twitter. After reading their past several days posts, I realized that we can never be friends because these otherwise intelligent people BELIEVE THIS SHIT. These are not stupid or uneducated people, and that scares me - a phrase I don't use lightly.

Thank you.

Just thank you.

You say what I say in my head every time I accidently hear what one of the idiots who deludedly think they are "appointed by God" say.

Did you hear that Michael Steele may run in '12 if "God" tells him to?
I can't wait for Palin/Steele in 2012!! 'Cause I'm pretty sure God has already told Sarah that he really really thinks it would be a excellent idea for her to do so.

What they forget to say, and that I think people need to be reminded of, is that Obama at least helps to write his own speeches. I doubt very seriously that G.W. ever saw one until he was about to read it - off a teleprompter.

You ask who would believe the slant that Obama is a bad talker because he reads off a teleprompter.

My former co-workers would and probably do.

That stated, they were a group who really believed that email that said Obama wanted to change the national anthem to "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing."

What worse is that they are school teachers. Including a science teacher who doesn't believe in evolution. She told me she voted against Obama because he a Muslim.

So yes, I'm sure that they're agreeing with all of this right now and telling each other just how great Sarah Palin is going to be in 2012.

@rosy glow...no. the repubs for me are like someone you used to date who ballooned to 300 pounds and joined a cult after you broke up and are embarrassed to acknowledge that you ever dated in the first place.

It has more to do with how different he sounds when he is not using one.

As it does with everyone, well except for Bushie. He sounded like a moron with or without being prompted.

Do you really expect him to respond to a random question with the power and words of his election night speech? And do it immediately without pause? Without thinking and choosing his words carefully? We've seen what that leads to, wondering is our children learning?

The Republicans are just pathetic losers, look who they followed for the last 8 years. Add Sarah Palen to the mix and you have one big pack of freaks. Who knows, maybe by 2012 life on this planet will end and it won't matter anyway.

GW was SUCH an IDIOT I don't think it's possible to compare him to ANYONE ELSE on the planet. A friend of mine thinks he's an alien, stumbling over words, not knowing much of anything that normal people know...and it sort of fits somehow...we haven't heard one word from him that I know of so maybe he's been beemed up already?

@ twoeightnine

Plenty of people who's job it is to speak in front of people and answer questions do a better job. He is constantly referred to as an eloquent speaker, many times the best we have ever seen. However, in my eyes the best speakers are those that do not read but rather speak. Go to any high school or college debate and you witness people who answer questions better.

P.S. I never once mentioned that Bush was great or even good. He had his fair share of cringeworthy moments. Just face up to the fact that the man is not perfect. The constant fawning makes me want to puke.

Sigh....First it was Rev. Wright. Then Bill Ayers. Then socialism. Then concentration camps. Then socialist dictatorship. Then his teleprompter controls him from Nasrallah's cave, etc. etc.

It'll be something else next week. It might just take another massive Democratic electoral wallop before some people finally join the reality club.

I still cant believe you voted for George W Bush but Im glad to have you on my team Cajun.

The press called Obama boring during his recent online Q&A because he was giving all of these details on his policies. This kind of blows the whole Empty Suit idea out of the water.

Talking to good friends that worked for Obama's campaign and have been in meetings with him, he is a policy wonk and nerdish type. He is a gifted orator on the stump but does stutter in interviews. This does not mean he is some clueless robot. Good God.

The biggest problem with Obama for the GOP is that they have not found a good way to demonize him and enter it into the mainstream meme. Hillary and Bill Clinton, Edwards, Kerry, Gore are were effectively demonized.

The American public is not buying the smear crap the GOP/Drudge/Fox News/Hate Radio cabal pushes because the average American likes Obama and wants to give him a fair shake at running the country, especially with all of the financial turmoil.
