Caj,
Fargo is the town I was born in and went to grade school.
My Grandma was evacuated over last week and is staying with my Uncle and Aunt. A good friend of mine has lost the basement of his brand new home and may lose the whole thing.
The same thing happened to my folks in 1997 in Grand Forks, ND and has a chance of happening again this year. Although, the flood control was vastly improved after the '97 disaster.
I come from stubborn stock, but I'm sure glad I only have to deal with eartquakes, fires, and landslides.
Thanks for bringing the flyover states to the party.
peace,

Hey Cajun Boy,
Why doesn't anyone ever talk about how stupid these people are for living next to the river? I've had so many people tell me that we should just let New Orleans return to being a swamp. I've also been told "Why would anyone want to live in a bowl surrounded by water?" I've never heard anyone say such things about the floods in the Dakotas.
Are they going to be allowed to rebuild? After all, it's just going to flood again, right? Even if it is next year or in the next 100 years.
I wonder if their insurance rates will triple next year?
@mbebler...i've actually said that very thing in arguments about new orleans. it's sort of maddening when people say that while being ignorant of the fact that just about any area where humans live is at risk from natural disaster, whether it be flooding, earthquake, tornados, etc.
