My new cock?
When I first started a blog two years ago (geez has it been that long already?!), one of the toughest things for me to decide in setting it all up was what to use as an online avatar. I didn't wanna use a picture of myself and but I wanted something that was representative of me that also had some sort of symbolic relationship to Louisiana. After passing early on pics of gators, crawfish, and an assortment of other painfully cliched symbols of Cajun culture, I chose a picture of a rooster, or cock if you will, over an image of one of Cajun artist George Rodrigue's famed blue dogs, mainly because Louisiana was the only state in the union that the sport of cockfighting was protected legally at the time, and I always found that sort of funny and derived an odd sense of pride from it. But alas, it is no more. Cockfighting was outlawed by the state last year. Anyway, I eventually settled on the image in the left margin of the page. I honestly can't recall where I even found it. But it has stuck. I feel so attached to it now.
Which gets me to this...
One of the nice things about having a minor web presence is that every now and then people decide to do nice things for you. One such occasion was yesterday when my friend Ashley Simko, a most lovely and talented Manhattan-based graphic designer/part-time socialite, created an updated version of my "cock" avatar for me.
Behold...

Now, I gotta admit, I'm kinda torn. I'm sort of attached to my old cock. It's strong. Striking. It's sends a hard message. So I'm not sure what to do because I'm so taken by this one. I have to admit...I'm kinda in love with my new cock. I can't stop looking at my new cock. (Yes, I just wanted to say that) I think I may hold onto it in lieu of a redesign of my blog, if and when I ever get off my ass to do it. Until then, I'll probably print out the high res version of the pic, frame it, and hang it above my desk.
But anyway...Thanks Simko!

I'm going to do what I always do when there are tough decisions or votes to make and abstain.
It's a very nice cock indeed!
If a girl creates a new cock for a boy, then that must mean she had a problem with his old cock. How does that make you feel Cajun Boy?
You can always go back to the old cock if you find that the new one doesn't suit you after awhile. try something new Cajun Boy! Keep your cock spicy and new!
I do like your old cock - the cock is just kicking back, doing what cocks do and he's got really nice bright colouring - but the new cock has a pretty stunning landscape there in the background with the sun rising ...
Anyway, if you do redesign your page, can I suggest using sans serif font for the headers? It's subtle change but makes a difference.
I love the new cock. To me it portrays you are announcing all the great shit that is going on. I think she did a great job.
@ all...yes, yes...i am soaking this all in. hmmm.
I have to say, Caj, it is a lovely new cock. I'd spend narcissistic time staring at it, myself. The megaphone is so appropriate.
The only flaw I see to your new cock is the background in which it is placed. It is a rural setting. I've always thought that your old cock, positioned on the cement sidewalk as it is, was a clever CBITC avatar - the contrast of the warm, energetic, feathered cock against the cold, hard, indifferent sidewalk. CB vs Manhattan. Metaphorically, I prefer the old cock.
Besides, you don't want change up your package in the middle of your action. Stick with the cock that got you noticed, I say.
If you decide to change up the whole webpage, you can decide at that point whether to upgrade your cock to go with it. Because a new CBITC might just call for a new cock - y'know, as a statement.
And may I say, what I lot of fun that was to write.

hmmmm, i'd love to know the newfangled cock and the former.
I love the saturated colors of the original cock and I love the composition and theme of the new cock. Tough choice, but super nice of the talented Simko to give you this.
I love your new cock!
God, I've always wanted to say that! ;-)
I like the new one but echo the bright vs not so bright color situation. Morph the two. Problem solved.

I just enjoy reading the word cock so many times in one post.
Cajun,
I Have to go with the Old Cock. Stay the course. It's just so.....Hillbilly in The City, being on the NYC sidewalk and all, it's really a unique identity stamp. The New Cock? Cute idea, a little flashy and Photoshoppy. Could be used as an icon from time to time on "breaking News" and "News flashes" perhaps? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think that no one should reinvent a man's cock - he should do that himself.
Random thoughts from The Minnesota Girl
i'm so in love with your cock.
