Long time reader, first time commenter... Interesting, yet as someone who also tries to make a living with art, I have a hard time listening to Fairey talk about his art with a straight face. I have trouble respecting him... He and his clothing company "Obey" are seemingly guilty of blatantly ripping off anonymous artists and taking credit for their work without any acknowledgment of the original artists. While that means nothing for his political convictions, it does, to me, take away from his credibility a bit.. Check out these articles, if interested:

I heard him in a radio interview, and he is very articulate, but like anon above said, he is a flagrant plagiarist. That makes me write him off my list. And since I am a big Obama supporter, I am disturbed that it is Fairey's art that represents Obama.
@anon & patricia...i had no idea that there'd been any charges of plagiarism aimed at fairey. thanks for the links/insights.
