Koreans love Popeyes Fried Chicken too!
When I was just a wee Cajun lad, I can remember my Mom taking me to the original Popeyes Fried Chicken location as a treat for being a good boy at the dentist or something. We Cajuns love our Popeyes chicken, still to this day even, despite the fact that founder Al Copeland sold the company long ago and it's current advertising and marketing often peddles an ugly caricature of Cajun cooking out into the mass culture. The Cajun Chicken Bowl? The Louisiana Delta Mini? What the fuck is that all about about? I'll see an ad for Popeyes sometimes and feel overcome with that same mix of anger and sadness that I imagine Mexican-Americans are overcome with when they see an ad for Meximelts at Taco Bell. But whatever, the chicken has remained virtually unchanged over the years, and that, of course, is the most important part. It's still better than anything else out there in my opinion.
KFC? Ew, gross!
And now Popeyes is an international fast food conglomerate and it's sort of odd to me still to this day, as I can actually remember when it was still a local thing. Popeyes even has a damn Twitter! But all of this really hit home when I saw this Korean ad for Popeyes, which I guess is sadly now out front and center as Cajun cuisine's culinary ambassador for the rest of the world, but is nevertheless hilarious, just because, well, see for yourself and you'll exactly what I'm talking about...

The original popeyes chicken was in Arabi, LA....in "da parish", did you live in the Parish growing up?
Hard to believe that Big Al managed to invent something down in da parish that causes people all over the world to dance.
That's a great commercial. What's up with the Mexican wrestler dude?
@brett...no i did not, but we often drove through "the parish" to get to and from where i did grow up to the city.
@hadocol...i've been trying to wrap my brain around the wrestler dude all day. i think it's best not to think too much about those things.
There is a Popeye's in the next town here in NJ, conveniently located near the train I take to NYC.
Once in a while I will pass by Veggie Heaven and indulge in artery clogging delights.
Memories of childhood, Saint games and a bucket of Popeye's!
When my baby bro was little and just learning to talk, every single fast food restaurant was "Popeye" to him (no S). Did you also bring Popeyes to every single picnic or outside event you ever went to as a kid? We always did.
There's one in the airport and I always get red beans and rice and a 1000 calorie biscuit before every flight out, no matter the time of day.
