Bush in final press conference: "Government aced Hurricane Katrina test, New Orleans and the Gulf Coast is all good!"

You know, I was all ready to pump out a few words in defense of President Bush later on today, as I've done occasionally in the past, nothing too deep, just echoing some of the same thoughts I've previously expressed here. You know, that at heart he's a good man who tried to do good but just trusted the wrong people and made stupid decisions accordingly.

But then I watched this clip from his final press conference earlier today as I ate my lunch, and there he was, shifty, smug, bullishly stubborn, in full "he just doesn't fucking get it" mode, and I quickly lost all desire to offer the dude any sort of defense. If ever there was a microcosm for the clusterfuckery that is the Bush presidency in one 3 1/2 minute clip, it is this one. Be sure to watch his face as the questions are being asked...

Good riddance. The Obama's can't get in there fast enough, for I truly believe deep down in my heart of hearts that Barack Obama will at least own up to his mistakes during his presidency, and he'll do so eloquently, lacking all delusion, and in complete sentences. Again, good riddance.

I think you should lower your expectations just a little bit about what Obama will be like as a President so you won't be so disappointed when the reality of day to day government sets in.

He's human, not omniscient, and is new to the job so he's bound to make mistakes. He's a politician, so he's bound to succumb to spin and PR to make his mistakes look better. Also, his government is bound to make decisions that you disagree with, and those decisions will be made for reasons that will never be completely made clear to the public (this is the way that politicians work the world over). Get ready to be disillusioned.

My favorite Bushism yet..."You have misunderestimated me". Good riddance to the man.

I don't wish him good riddance ... Just watching that clip and his smarmy face talking about New Orleans ... bleh ... it just makes me feel physically ill. What a detestable man.

Yes, we're all about to be saved from one set of politicians by another set of politicians. Politicians for everyone!

George Bush should have been scraped out of his mother's twat with a rusted coat hanger.
