Falcons fans should rejoice.

That fucker truly makes me feel hate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's "suspended" (in quotes because I don't know what he is, I just know he hasn't been released from the team) with pay, right??

@dmbmeg...i was kinda looking forward to the two weeks during the season where the falcons played the saints if he was on their roster. that was gonna be a fun time for me.

@cindie...indeed, vick is "suspended." i just think that legally their hands are tied right now but they want to disassociate with him as much as possible.

he's kind of hot in a jailbait kind of way...

@ms puddin...i regretfully inform you that you may no longer toss my salad for thinking that!

But does he have to be on paid suspension? They can suspend him without pay, I'm sure. I just feel like paying him while suspended is BS. I sure wouldn't get pay if I was suspended from my job, and I make no where near what his salary is.

That dog has no idea what's in store.

whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty???

thehoustongirl asked "whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty???"

That's the reason why he is suspended w/pay and not fired.

"(NFL Commissioner) Goodell said in a letter to the quarterback that although it is up to the criminal justice system to determine guilt or innocence, it is Goodell's responsibility as commissioner to determine whether Vick's conduct violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy." (from FOX Sports)

ahhh thanks for the comment slamdance!! I mean it's crazy because he was NOT the first and certainly not the LAST to participate in dog fighting, so why is everyone all dogging [no pun intended]him out?

R.I.P. to the innocent animals too :(

Houstongirl,

Have you read the 19-page indictment on him? There is not an innocent bone in his body. Examine the material in that document and you will quickly see why everyone is "dogging" him....

1st off, Caj,

Sorry to hijack your blog.

2nd, anon sW,

While the indictment is damning, and Vick, et al, certainly SEEM guilty, it is NOT a conviction. I'm sure there will be more to come in this issue, but the NFL and the Falcons are doing the right things thus far. For example, look at the Duke Lacrosse rape allegations and the fact that the players were found not guilty. If, by some chance, Vick is found not guilty (which is different than "innocent") and he has been fired, he would have a huge legal advantage to receive recompense from the team and the league for an unjust dismissal.

The court of public opinion has convicted Vick, fortunately for all of us, in a court of law it is (theoretically) still “innocent until proven guilty”…

Slamdance, I agree that the Falcons and the NFL are taking the right approach by delaying the inevitable...Ron Mexico's complete banishment from the NFL outright. I disagree with your comparison to the Duke case, however. In that case, it was on overzealous, incompetent local district attorney with an ulterior motive who brought the trumped up charges. None of that exists in the Ron Mexico case. The Federal Gov't is bringing the heat here. There is a reason they have a conviction rate upwards of 95% too. The don't indict unless they have the goods to convict. Sometimes the court of public opinion is led astray. Not in the Ron Mexico case though....

Caj, mea culpa yet again, but this story fascinates me.

Anon, I agree with your criticisms, the reason I used the Duke case was for comparison in the fact that these guys were accused and convicted in the court of public opinion and later found "not guilty". I do not believe this will happen in Vick's case, but I was wrong about O.J...
