LSU coach Les Miles calls Pac-10 bunch of p*#%ies
oh no he didn't!!!
he so did.
les miles is either the only SEC coach with sufficient ballage or stupidity to say such a thing, but he basically slammed the pac-10 as a weak football conference. essentially he just stated publicly what every coach and fan of sec football has believed over the last few years.
"I can tell you this, that they have a much easier road to travel," Miles said of USC. "They're going to play real knockdown drag-outs with UCLA and Washington, Cal-Berkeley, Stanford — some real juggernauts — and they're going to end up, it would be my guess, in some position so if they win a game or two, that they'll end up in the title [game]. I would like that path for us."
Miles later told reporters in Baton Rouge that, as far as teams go, the Pac-10 "may have one or two really good ones."

Les Miles is a fucking idiot.
Oregon Duck
Hey, something about the SEC we agree on! Our schedules are by FAR more demanding than the PAC-10. You're lucky my team's not playing yours this season, though... >:)
I guess I'm a fucking idiot, too...no other conference offers their upper echelon teams the pounding that the SEC does. For a team to weather through conference time in the fall and make it out undefeated and THEN have to beat someone a final time in the SEC championship game...well...anyway, anyone think Ohio State was a little undeserving of last season's consistent number one ranking after their bowl game was over?
Les is dead on correct on this matter. Aside from USC, does anyone else in that conference scare anybody? Absolutely not.
On the same token, the SEC is not nearly as tough as the typical Southerner makes it out to be either. Sure, they have some good teams at the top. But the middle (Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, et al) are mediocre at best. Better than what the Pac 10 can offer, but hardly juggernauts. Top teams in any conference would waltz through these annually overated teams.
You have to love Coach Miles' brazen personality. He says what other coaches think but don't have the balls to say. It should be no surprise that he is this way. After all, he learned from the best...Coach Schembechler. LSU fans better enjoy Coach Miles while you can because as soon as LLLoyd retires (possibly after this season), Coach Miles will be the #1 target to return home to Ann Arbor.
M Go Blue!!!

@anon...many share your opinion anon.
@oob...whatever! georgia sucks. thus, their hedges get pissed on by drunken cajun boys.
@eric...we're both idiots eric. i agree with miles completely!
@sW...stop saying that shit about miles going to UM. i don't wanna think about that atrocity.
need i remind you sW that USC waxed michigan's ass in the rose bowl. i just had to throw that in there.
CB,
Our bowl performance was admittedly pitiful. You need not remind me. It was classic LLLoyd. Horrendously passive game plan that we have seen time and time again. Talent was pretty even and probably in Michigan's favor. Coaching was an utter mismatch. Just disgraceful!! That is EXACTLY why I (and many, many other alums) am praying that Coach Miles will be back in Maize and Blue after LLLoyd retires. You know he has a specific "Michigan" clause in his contract, right? He's just keeping the chair warm for the next Tigers coach....
Thank you Les Miles! I was at a wedding last weekend with some Florida fans and the only thing that we could agree on is that the SEC is the best conference in the nation but it goes completely unrecognized. How many SEC teams were in the top 10 last year?
Geaux Tigers!!!
Is Michigan mediocre then?
Over the past 5 years Auburn and Georgia (and LSU) had a winning percentage higher than Michigan (and top 10 for division 1-A)
I could wax nostalgic, which is what programs like Michigan and Bama like to do, but if we are talking about current mediocrity then...
In my opinion, Michigan has underachieved in the last 5 or so years in large part because of LLLoyd's coaching philosophy. We are easily good enough to be a top-2 Big 10 team this way and can win on talent alone. But when we play in BCS games, LLLoyd goes into passive mode. I can't figure it out and it annoys the hell out of me to see us lose to an average USC team the way we did when we have better players. But enough on that.
Please don't sit there and compare Michigan to Auburn or, even worse, Alabama. We beat both of those schools the last time we played them. Bama is not even a middle of the pack SEC team anymore.
Michigan will be right up there again this year and should win the Big 10 barring an injury to the QB or something along those lines. Auburn and Alabama will not. At least Auburn will get to some mediocre second tier bowl like always. Bama is just not good. LSU and florida are the class of the SEC this year and the winner of their matchup most likely will be the SEC Champion. Geaux Tigers!!
And to answer the question posed by Danielle, 3 SEC teams were in the top 10. Same for the Big 10.
M Go Blue!!
sW
@sW...just remember that the three SEC teams that finished in the top ten all whipped ass in their bowl games. the pac 10 not so much. as a matter of fact, big blue and ohio state were steamrolled.
i'm just saying.
@danielle...you love the tigers too baby! man you and me are meant to be!
@atlhope...i would classify michigan as above average. definitely not mediocre.
CB,
True, but come on. Your Tigers had a blowout victory giftwrapped for them with the lame Irish in New Orleans. Home game against an unworthy opponent. And Auburn didn't play anybody. They also won by 3 points.
Ultimately, the only team I care about did not take care of business in our bowl game. It was an embarrassing loss to a team we should have beaten. I can come up with many excuses like we hadn't played a game in almost 9 weeks. But I'll put the blame squarely on LLLoyd and his passive, pathetic game plan. He is so damn stubborn too. He'll run the ball up the middle until we gain 2 yards no matter how many tries it takes. Ugh. Depressing to even think about...
Coach Miles will open up our offence though when he arrives in Ann Arbor!!!
sW
@sV...what exactly does the "LLL" stand for on carr's name anyway?
CB,
Each L represents a Loss. He is usually good for at least 2-3 per season because of his God-awful coaching. Two years ago was his finest season (major injuries certainly contributed as well) so he was LLLLLoyd....
sW
BooYah, Les baby! Cajones Grande, indeed.
The unspoken and undeniable truth exposed....finally.
SEC Rules. Period.
And who is the best of the SEC ?
Just out of curiousity, I followed the link in double d's post. And then I made my way to the LSU schedule this year. And came to the following conclusion:
OMG, you want to talk about a CREAMPUFF schedule!!! The big game against florida is it for y'all. You have a cakewalk to the Sugar Bowl, although you will have to beat florida again in the SEC championship game. I'd love to see Coach Miles take on his future employer in that bowl game. Hell, I might just have to venture on down to Bourbon Street myself for a few Hand Grenades at the Tropical Isle should that come to fruition!!
sW
@sW...admittedly, our schedule this year works in our favor. but you're forgetting that our schedule last year was the toughest in the nation. we played arkansas, florida, tennessee and auburn last year...all ranked in the top ten when we played them...ALL ON THE ROAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we deserve to have an easier schedule this year.
I know what you mean, CB. I bet the VaTech game, when it was scheduled in advance, probably looked a lot tougher than what it will turn out to be. Ours sets up pretty good for us, although the toughest part will be at the end when we end with 2 rival games and Wisconsin, who should finish 2nd this year in the Big 10. LSU and Big Blue down on the Bayou is not out of the question....and has a nice ring to it.
sW
I'd take the creampuffs of the SEC (MSU, Kentucky, Vandy and Ole Miss) over Oregon, Oregon St., Stanford, ASU, Arizona, Cal, Washington.
I'd also take the middle of the SEC, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina over USC and UCLA.
Florida and LSU against USC, in NOLA? No question. By 2 touchdowns.
Time WILL tell. :)
Seems to me that Oregon State went down to Death Valley a few years back and lost by one point, after three missed PAT's. Boy, LSU sure scared the sh8t out of those Beavers!
The sixth best program in the Pac-10 kicked your ass up and down the field and handed you the game at the end.
I guess if that's what passes for dominance Down South then it's no wonder y'all think the South's gonna rise again.
@anon...you seriously need to get a life. you're a total asshat. how much time did you waste away furiously typing away in your mother's basement to find the last time a pac-10 team gave LSU a run for it's money. and oh yeah, THEY WON THE FUCKING GAME.
now go to bed...it's well past your bedtime. mommy is gonna be coming down at any minute to be sure that you're wearing your retainer and that you put the plastic cover over the mattress so that you won't stain it yet again with your urine.
Wow, CB. Lots of anger directed at anon there. I agree the comment about the south was kind of dickish but the game was only about three years ago so it's not like he had to go that far back. And, it's not like LSU has played a bunch of Pac-10 teams lately. They scraped by a pretty mediocre Arizona State team the next year, but that's about it, right?
Anyway, as a Stanford grad with a Pac-10 perspective, I will say that the SEC is the deepest conference, with the best group of coaches, and the most NFL talent. However, the SEC seems to have a pathological inferiority complex that compels it's membership to call out other conferences. I've never seen Jim Tressel or Pete Carroll sound off like this.
Great blog, I read it every day and will continue to do so.
(Please be gentle)
@michael...i should have posted some background on that one. that "anon" has been going around to each post just looking for little things to antagonize me on. he's some little twat who has nothing better to do and sits in his mother's basement and seeths over his lack of talent, so he goes around to blog comment boards and unleashes his angst onto bloggers. i just felt like unleashing on him last night...so i did. please don't be less inclined to post a comment of an opposing viewpoint. that sort of venom was reserved for one particular douche.
anyway, i got bored with hm and blocked his IP address from accessing my site. it now directs him to a gay porn site whenever he puts my url into his web browser.
but you make good and valid points. LSU has a history of playing to the level of it's competition in recent years.
